  • I think I am interested in teaching abroad. Where do I start?
    The first thing to think about before going to teach abroad is where you really want to go/ it is important to select country on the following factors.

For teaching English aboard another most important criterion is to do a TEFL course either online or onsite.

  • Is a college degree required for teaching English abroad?
    A college degree is preferred by most of the schools and for many it is mandatory. College degree is often required for a work visa in most of the countries. In some of the countries however, English teachers without a degree are often recruited.

  • Is the knowledge of a foreign language mandatory to get a job abroad?
    No, knowledge of native language is not required. But if you have knowledge of local language you may be offered more remuneration.

  • Do I need a teaching certificate to teach English abroad?
    It varies from schools to schools as sometimes only native speakers are preferred by the schools without any training and often teachers with training are the requirement. But if you want a high paying job which is better than the rest it is better if you have a certificate.

  • Is it possible for me to teach abroad with an online certificate?

  • Will working for just one school be enough for supporting me?
    It totally depends on the school and the location. In the Asian countries, you will be working in the public schools full time with guaranteed salary. The salary given here are perfect for living comfortably. In some locations it might be hard to lead a comfortable life after working for only one school thus you can try taking tuitions and working in few more.

  • Do I need to sign a contract? If yes, what does the contract consist of?
    All the organizations have different contracts depending on the labor laws of particular countries. Some of the points, which can be in the contract, are minimum number of guaranteed hours, whether the teachers are allowed to teach in other organizations, salary and length of service. Some schools also go for verbal contracts but these are not very reliable.
